ISLAMABAD: Once again Bestway Cement was honoured for its contribution to sustainable development, when it scooped four awards at the prestigious 15th Annual International CSR Summit 2023, organised by the National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH), held in Islamabad on Tuesday, February 21, 2021.
Bestway won the sought-after awards in the categories of Fund Raising & Disaster Management, CSR Round O’Clock, Education & Scholarships and Green Energy Initiatives.
The awards aim to showcase innovative corporate initiatives which are part of a comprehensive sustainable strategy and address the most pressing environmental and social challenges.
The participants of the awards were the leading local and multinational firms of Pakistan who too are in the forefront of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in the country.
Bestway appreciates it’s responsibility towards the local communities, thus playing a vital role in their socio-economic development such as improving access to health services and education, taking part in the urban development and environmental conservation programs and helping generate employment.
Bestway is one of the top ten CSR spenders in Pakistan. The Group’s charitable arm, Bestway Foundation, had spent more than Rs. 1 billion in just last 3 years on various social causes, particularly education. In addition to providing substantial financial assistance to some of the best educational and health care institutions around the country, the Foundation is running two schools in Chakwal and Farooqia and a girls’ college in Gujar Khan where quality education is provided free of cost; work on two more schools has already started and very soon another two schools will be constructed in Hattar and Mianwali. Bestway also runs free medical centres at all of its production facilities which provide free basic healthcare facilities to more than 20,000 patients annually.
