Bestway regards environment protection and conservation as an integral part of its business philosophy. In line with that, the Company recently entered into various agreements for solarisation of all of its cement plants.
Ceremonies were held today at Bestway’s Chakwal and Kallar Kahar plants to mark the commissioning of 15.2 MWs and 14.8 MWs Solar Photovoltaic capacities at respective plants. Speaking on the occasion, Lord Zameer M. Choudrey CBE SI Pk, the Group CEO, reiterated the Company’s commitment towards reliance on green and renewable sources of energy.
Bestway has already successfully commissioned 14.4 MWs Solar Photovoltaic power plant at its Farooqia site earlier this year in June 2021 while another 6.4 MWs capacity is under installation at its Hattar plant. With a total capacity of almost 51 MWs, this is the single largest distributed energy project undertaken to date not only in Pakistan but the entire region. The Project cost at all four sites is estimated at around USD 25 million.
The output energy will be used on-site resulting in substantial savings for the Company in cost of energy and will significantly reduce the Company’s reliance on the national grid.
The energy generated will also cut around 1.2 million Tonnes of CO2 emissions over the life of the projects, which is equivalent to plantation of approximately 2.5 million trees.
